Important update for all Newcomer Dancers - There has been an amendment made to the Newcomer Novelty dance sheet. Please only use the updated sheet.
The NEW Jewel and Megastar dance B is now online.
Please be aware of the change to the New Rule for the A and B dances. Please read the amendment in the rule to ensure you are fully aware of the change in September, when this rule will be applied.
The WCDF World Championships 2009 will
again take place in Kalkar, Germany, from 1 – 5 January.

The World Country Dance Federation has been formed in
Europe with the mission to “further the art form and sport of country
dance at all levels (social, competitive, and professional) through a variety
of styles and music.” The WCDF sanctions and establishes the rules and
guidelines for the events listed below and offers other like minded individuals
or organizations to partner with the WCDF through event ownership.
The WCDF is full of many familiar names from the world of country dance including
Event Directors, trainers, instructors and top dancers and professionals. The
aim of the WCDF is that the dancer always comes first in an organisation created
for the good of dancers and for the good of country dance worldwide.
We have a circuit of High Level competition events, with already established
events in countries such as Germany (2) , UK (3), The Netherlands (3), Norway
(2), Switzerland (1), Belgium (1), Spain (2), Denmark (1), Scotland (1), France
(1), Sweden (1), Austria (1) and The Baltic Countries (1). There will be ample
opportunities to compete at wonderful, innovative, and exciting events. Also
there will be WCDF one day events called Regional/National events. We have a
Ranking system for each country and a European ranking which allows each country
to develop a circuit with its own competitions.
Social Contests will also take place that will use the dances that are popular
in each country, although there will be some recommended dances for you to choose.
The WCDF aims to give the social dancers the respect they deserve.
Between them the founders have many years of dance relevant experience, which
includes dance instructors, dance studio ownerships, conducting dance events,
judging dance events, competing at dance events, and simply enjoying the fun
of social dancing. They each bring a varied mix of business skills experience
from other industries to the WCDF.
Again you will have the opportunity to qualify for the WCDF Championship of
the World to be held in January 2009. The WCDF has dancer friendly rules that
will be available in your own language and kept simple, yet informative. We
are still listening to you the dancer to find out what your needs and your likes
and dislikes are. We promised not to change things for the sake of change, but
for the good of the dance form. And so we did. You the dancer will have your
say through the WCDF Representatives in each country and the Dancers Section
Director within the WCDF Board of Directors will take care of all your suggestions.
You the instructors will also be able to have your say through the WCDF Representatives
in each country.
The WCDF will respond to emails and letters about, rules or music, in fact any
issues you may have, in a timely manner.
PROFESSIONALS SECTION: There is set in place an extensive Judge Training Programme
and you can be assured that whenever you compete at a WCDF event you will be
judged fairly and honestly by professional judges. The Social Instructors Accreditation
Programme will benefit all the Pros in their work.
