Our dance art is continuing on its steady progress. Old and partly antiquated rules can interfere with any positive development, but not each and every temporary fashion should influence our rules. After careful consideration, the Rules Committee, with Dorsey Napier at the head, have provided a revised edition for 2008. We are once again fulfilling our mission statement to be the dancer's organisation.

WCDF Rules Board

The WCDF Rules Board is headed by Dorsey Napier (USA), who brings many years of experience in Country Western Dance and is a world renowned and respected Judge and Contest Co-ordinator. Dorsey spends much of his time in Europe, working events and giving dance lessons. The rest of the Judges Board is made up of several experienced judges and instructors, who between them also have many years of experience. They are mainly Event Directors, and either have dance schools or teach country dance. They will work tirelessly to ensure that the WCDF Rules will be clear, fair, and “dancer friendly”. The WCDF Rules have been produced in a clear, easy to read, and understand format and already we have translated them into different languages. Just click on the flag of your country at the top of the page to find them. You can now download each division separately, even in the different languages.

After each world championships, an announcement is to be placed on the wcdf website, to congratulate each individual dancer who has graduated to a higher division.

When the ‘confirmation of registration letter’ is sent to the dancer, it will advise them of any graduation to a higher division. It will also state that they may continue to dance in the lower division until after the world championships.

After Worlds 2009, a letter will be sent to each competitor stating into which division they are allowed to compete using the 2006/7 ranking system.
